BFI management's announcement that it is to enter into partnership with Palgrave Macmillan begins the process of implementing Phase One of the realignment plan. As the press release posted below indicates, many details of the proposed publishing partnership remain vague; there is no guarantee that BFI authors and other stakeholders will be informed by institute managers about developments. Does the arrangement whereby the BFI retains ownership of the list and copyright in all titles mean that authors' contracts will remain with the BFI? What exactly does Palgrave Macmillan's management responsibility involve? Such questions are crucial for BFI authors; as usual, the operations of BFI senior management remain shrouded in secrecy.
